Den NE dalvæg af Molenbeek er helt anderledes end den på den modsatte side. I sådanne tilfælde taler geomorfologerne om en asymmetrisk dal. Og de er altid interesseret i dem, fordi disse asymmetriske dale ofte skyldes en forskel i erosion. Og den forskel har ofte (men ikke altid!) en litologisk årsag (en anden slags undergrund). Den NE dalvæg er længere oppe også bebygget af udkanten af landsbyens område i Sint-Laureins-Berchem.
