Det blev bygget til søstrene af Notre-Dame de Boulogne for at fungere som sanatorium for børn. Det blev midt i Schipgatdynerne plantet med udsigt over havet. I 2005 blev Duinenhus købt af kommunen Koksijde fra vzw Søstre af Kærlighed af J.M. Noordprovincie fra Gent. Denne charmerende villa er den drømte base for det undervisningstilbud, der omhandler natur, miljø og bæredygtig udvikling i Koksijde. Det uddannelsescenter dykker søklasser, foreninger eller vennegrupper ned i alt, hvad vores kyst har at tilbyde.
