It was built for the sisters of Notre-Dame de Boulogne to serve as a sanatorium for children. It was planted in the middle of the Schipgat dunes, overlooking the sea. In 2005, the Duinenhuis of the non-profit organization Sisters of Charity of J.M. North Province from Ghent was purchased by the municipality of Koksijde. This charming villa is the dream home for the educational offerings around nature, the environment, and sustainable development in Koksijde. The educational center immerses sea classes, associations, or friend groups in everything our coast has to offer.
