Amelgem Kapel blev i 1155 tildelt til Grimbergen klosteret af biskoppen. Indtil 1247 var Amelgem stadig en selvstændig sogn med en hofkapel og et storslået domæne. Ved et dekret fra biskoppen blev Amelgem en underordnet kirke for Meise, og den blev senere tilknyttet Oppem. Den nuværende bygning er opført i barokstil, under abbed Outers i 1637. I 1830 blev kapellet grundigt restaureret. I øjeblikket er kapellet ude af brug.
