Hjemmets Pro Juventute Air et Soleil blev bygget på ordre af baron Louis Empain. Efter en hændelse på en båd, uden negative konsekvenser dog, tager baron Empains liv en vending. Den industrielle beslutter at ændre sin livsstil. Han giver afkald på sin adels titel, begrænser sine rentable aktiviteter til et minimum og etablerer fonden Fondation Pro Juventute. Denne velgørende fond havde til formål at fremme og udvikle ungdommen på det moralske, intellektuelle og fysiske plan. Arkitekt Antoine Courtens, som allerede har udført adskillige design på opdrag af Louis Empain, får til opgave at designe dette hjem.
