Das Heim Pro Juventute Air et Soleil wurde im Auftrag von Baron Louis Empain erbaut. Nach einem Vorfall auf einem Boot, der zwar keine negativen Folgen hatte, nimmt das Leben von Baron Empain eine Wendung. Der Industrielle beschließt, seinen Lebensstil zu ändern. Er verzichtet auf seinen adeligen Titel, beschränkt seine gewinnbringenden Aktivitäten auf ein Minimum und gründet die Stiftung Fondation Pro Juventute. Diese karitative Stiftung hatte zum Ziel, die Erhebung und Entwicklung der Jugend in moralischer, intellektueller und physischer Hinsicht zu fördern. Der Architekt Antoine Courtens, der bereits mehrere Entwürfe im Auftrag von Louis Empain ausgeführt hat, erhält den Auftrag, dieses Heim zu entwerfen.
