La maison Pro Juventute Air et Soleil a été construite à la demande du baron Louis Empain. Après un incident sur un bateau, sans conséquences néfastes toutefois, la vie du baron Empain prend un tournant. L'industriel décide de changer son mode de vie. Il renonce à son titre de noblesse, réduit ses activités lucratives au minimum et fonde la fondation Fondation Pro Juventute. Cette fondation caritative avait pour but l'élévation et le développement de la jeunesse, tant sur le plan moral, intellectuel que physique. L'architecte Antoine Courtens, qui a déjà réalisé plusieurs projets pour le compte de Louis Empain, reçoit la commande de concevoir cette maison.
