På laden af Molensteen står året 1857. Det er i det år, at den første fagforening i Belgien, Broderlig Forening af Vævere, bliver grundlagt. Og det er også året, hvor franskmanden Jean-François Millet skabte sine berømte Ære høster (Des glaneuses) og Algelus. Det kunne have været et billede fra denne svindelens daværende omgivelser. Ved den første udstilling fik denne realistiske fremstilling af tre fattige bøndekoner meget kritik og blev anset for at være for revolutionær og en glorificering af socialismen.
