Casinoet på den navnfulde Casino-plads blev grundlagt i 1835/1836 af arkitekten Louis Roelandt under indflydelse fra Société d'Agriculture et de Botanique. Det blev bygget til de Gentske Floraliën og blev brugt dertil indtil 1908. Derefter flyttede Floraliën til Fest- og Floraliënpaladset. Casinoet blev brugt som militærhospital under Første Verdenskrig. Fra 1935 til 1945 blev Veeartsenijskolen (forgængeren for fakultetet for Veterinærmedicin) placeret der. I 1945 var bygningen klar til rivning.
