Le Casino sur la place du même nom a été fondé en 1835/1836 par l'architecte Louis Roelandt sous l'impulsion de la Société d'Agriculture et de Botanique. Il a été construit pour les Floralies de Gand et a été utilisé à cette fin jusqu'en 1908. Ensuite, les Floralies ont déménagé au Palais des Fêtes et des Floralies. Le Casino a été utilisé comme hôpital militaire pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. De 1935 à 1945, l'École vétérinaire (le prédécesseur de la faculté de Médecine vétérinaire) y a été accueillie. En 1945, le bâtiment était prêt pour la pelleteuse.
