Koningshooikt, delkommune i Lier, hvor bussbygger Van Hool engang startede som cykelmekaniker på hvad der nu er en verdenskendt busvirksomhed. 3500 medarbejdere bygger dagligt busser og industrielle køretøjer.
De tre kommuner (Walem, Koningshooikt, Lier) har også et fort, der er en del af den ydre fortificationsring omkring Antwerpen, bygget mellem 1877 og 1905. Fortet ved Walem er et beskyttet naturområde, hvor store kolonier af flagermus har fundet deres tilholdssted i mange år. Andre forte blev i 1970'erne drevet som tavern med legeplads eller som fiskegrav.
