Vejen skærer bogstaveligt talt ind i disse sandstensbanker, men fordi de er ret modstandsdygtige, danner de små trapper. Disse sandstensbanker er en lokal natursten, der dannes i sandlagene af Busseliaans sand eller Formation de Bruxelles. Dette sandlag blev afsat her i et lavt hav i tertiærperioden.
