Godset Rothensiek ligger i Leopoldstal, en bydel i byen Horn-Bad Meinberg, tæt på Detmold og Paderborn i Teutoburger Wald. Portbygningen til godset fra 1687 er listed som fredet.
I 1481 modtog Hermann Trumpe som uddannet møllersvend og tjener for den lippiske grev Bernhard VII. landene omkring det nuværende godset Rothensiek som len. I akterne blev der nævnt en Ilseke Trumpe i hans tjeneste som "Pige og Bislepersche", som havde mindst 11 udenfor ægteskab børn med greven. Hvis dette var Hermann Trumpe's søster i Rodensiek, forklarer det velviljen fra hans tidligere herre.
