Naturbeskyttelsesområdet Hunstein med et areal på 11,76 ha ligger syd for Calle i Meschede byområde. Området blev i 1994 udnævnt til naturbeskyttelsesområde af Hochsauerlandkreis' kommunalbestyrelse med landskabsplanen for Meschede som et naturbeskyttelsesområde med et areal på 7,3 ha. Ved den nye udarbejdelse af landskabsplanen for Meschede blev NSG'et derefter igen udpeget og væsentligt udvidet.
