Criewen er en tidligere selvstændig kommune, der siden den 1. august 2001 har tilhørt Schwedt/Oder. Den ligger tæt på den polske grænse, lige op ad Nationalparken Unteres Odertal. Criewen blev første gang nævnt skriftligt i 1354 og er dermed en af de ældste dokumenterede slaviske fiskerbyer.
Slottet, der blev bygget til ritmester Otto von Arnim i Lenné-parken, er i dag sæde for Brandenburg Akademie Schloss Criewen. Fra 2003 har den tyske fond for fredede bygninger også været involveret i restaureringen af kirken.
