Om Kristi fødsel forsøgte romerne at erobre Germanien. I denne periode marcherede romerske legioner langs Lippe og opslog lejr i Holsterhausen.
De første spor blev opdaget i 20'erne og 30'erne i det forrige århundrede. Ved den største udgravning i Kreskenhof-området fra 2000 til 2002 registreres cirka 6000 fund. En historisk station, der er skabt af elever fra Gymnasiet Petrinum, minder nu om romertiden. Den blev opført på stedet for en af de langt mere end ti romerske lejre på Holsterhausener grund, som er dokumenteret siden 1927.
