Um die Christi Geburt herum versuchten die Römer, Germanien zu erobern. In dieser Zeit zogen römische Legionen die Lippe entlang und schlugen in Holsterhausen Marschlager auf.
Erste Spuren wurden in den 20/ 30er Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts entdeckt. Bei der größten Flächengrabung in der Gemarkung Kreskenhof von 2000 bis 2002 werden etwa 6000 Befunde registriert. An die Römerzeit erinnert nun eine Geschichtsstation, die von Schülerinnen und Schülern des Gymnasiums Petrinum gestaltet wurde. Errichtet wurde sie an der Stelle eines der weit mehr als zehn römischen Marschlager auf Holsterhausener Boden, die seit 1927 nachgewiesen sind.
