Slottet Weißig ligger nær den saksiske Hermsdorf ved Spreeflodens øvre løb og i kanten af skovområdet Driewitz-Milkeler Heiden. Weißig, hvor slottet ligger i udkanten af byen, er ca. en kilometer fra Hermsdorf.
Det ældste dokument stammer fra 1469, da stedet omtales som "Weissigke". Den nærliggende Eichberg var stedet for en betydningsfuld kamp. Den 19. maj 1813 fandt der en kamp mellem de russisk-preussiske allierede og Napoleons soldater sted. Over 1700 soldater fra Yorks korps og 2000 franskmænd faldt. I 1913, altså 100 år senere, blev et mindesmærke indviet på stedet for kampen.
