Il Castello delle Pipistrelli di Weißig si trova vicino a Hermsdorf, in Sassonia, nella parte alta dello Spree e al margine della foresta Driewitz-Milkeler Heiden. Weißig, dove si trova il castello ai margini del villaggio, dista circa un chilometro da Hermsdorf.
Il documento più antico risale al 1469, quando il luogo viene citato come "Weissigke". Il vicino Eichberg fu il teatro di un'importante battaglia. Il 19 maggio 1813 si svolse uno scontro tra le forze alleate russo-prussiane e i soldati di Napoleone. In questa occasione furono uccisi oltre 1700 soldati del Corpo di York e 2000 francesi. Nel 1913, quindi 100 anni dopo, fu inaugurato un monumento sul luogo della battaglia.
