Dorf Fohlenplacken ligger cirka 1,5 km nordvest for byen Neuhaus ved Holzminde på 295 til 340 m højde. Landsvejen 50 mellem Neuhaus og Holzminden passerer gennem bystedet.
Det område, hvor klosteret Corvey engang havde ejerskabsretter, blev i moderne tid kaldt Fülleplacke. Amt Allersheim lod holde føl på de græsningsarealer, der fandtes på denne lille jordlod. I det 18. århundrede blev der bygget et mølle som det første byggeri; derefter fulgte flere bosættelser. Glasurmühlen var i perioder en leverandør til porcelænmanufakturen Fürstenberg. I 2017 blev skovglasfabrikken ved Holzminde nord for byen arkæologisk undersøgt, og den betragtes som den næstældste af sin art i Europa.
