Retten hørte til distriktsdomstolen i Siegen. I 1979 blev det omdannet til en filial af byretten i Olpe og blev endeligt lukket i 1986. Opgaverne har siden da været varetaget af byretten i Olpe.
Fra 1878 til 1940 var retten indkvarteret i det gamle rådhus fra det 14. århundrede. Ejendommen huser i dag Südsauerlandmuseum og er fredet. Det sidste retsbyggeri på Hohler Weg 1 er også under fredning. Begge bygninger er registreret i fredningslisten.
