I det 11. århundrede var Château de Campbon sæde for en len med samme navn. Det blev bygget i det 11. og 13. århundrede. En sten med datoen 1008 blev opdaget foden af tårnet, mens der blev gravet en grav. I det 14. århundrede bliver slottet et bagland til familien de Clisson, før det går videre til Rohan. Det tilhørte derefter Arthur de Montauban og derefter baronerne af Pontchâteau. I 1565 blev lenet erhvervet af René du Cambout, herre af Coislin.
