In the 11th century, the castle of Campbon is the seat of a lordship of the same name. It was built in the 11th and 13th centuries. A stone bearing the date 1008 was discovered at the foot of the tower while digging a ditch. In the 14th century, the castle became a sub-fief of the family of Clisson, before passing to the Rohan family. It then belonged to Arthur de Montauban and later to the barons of Pontchâteau. In 1565, the lordship was acquired by René du Cambout, lord of Coislin.
