I 1240, efter at have kæmpet tappert, vender Enguerrand III, herre af Coucy, tilbage til slottet. Uden at vide hvilke magiske ord han skal bruge, bliver han kastet frem til det 21. århundrede. Ved en tilfældighed møder han sin efterkommer, Marie-Anne de Montmirail, guide i Coucy. Han indser desværre, at hans slot ikke længere eksisterer, og forstår, at han må finde tilbage til sin egen tid. Vil de sammen formå at afværge skæbnen?
