Ossuariet er et symbolsk monument på slagmarken og rummer cirka 130.000 uidentificerede lig af franske og tyske soldater. Med billetterne kan du deltage i den 20 minutters lange forestilling "Verdun des hommes de Boue" (hver halvtime, 144 pladser). Simultantolkning på tysk, engelsk, hollandsk, russisk og kinesisk) og besøg af klosteret, kapellet og tårnet, hvorfra man kan se hele slagmarken. For ossuariet strækker den enorme nationale nekropole i Douaumont sig, hvor mere end 16.000 franske soldater er begravet.
