Apollo-templet, gud for musik, harmoni, lys, helbredelse og orakler, indtog den mest vigtige og fremtrædende position i det delphiske panhellenske helligdom. Bygningen med den delvist restaurerede søjlegang, der ses i dag, dateres til det 20. århundrede f.Kr., og ifølge gamle beretninger blev der bygget fem forskellige templer gennem historien. Det berømte orakel, Pythia, fungerede inde i templet, et sted valgt, ifølge en tradition, på grund af en hellig kløft under stedet, der udsendte dampe, som Pythia indåndede.
