Fjorten af indbyggerne i den lille landsby Lahardane (pop 500) i Mayo, Irland - og to besætningsmedlemmer, der oprindeligt kom fra Lahardane, i alt seksten - sejlede i april 1912 på Titanic. Da skibet sunk, overlevede kun 3 af de 14 fra Lahardane, hvilket gør dette til det mest katastrofale sted, der er forbundet med Titanic-historien.
I dag har St. Patrick's Church i Lahardane en plakette til minde om katastrofen, og den 9. april 2012 vil der være en "Travel "Titanic Memorial Cruise" for at markere 100-årsdagen for katastrofen.
