Tårnet stammer fra 1500 og er for nylig blevet restaureret.
Det er en del af systemet af kysttårne i Sicilien og blev bygget mod havet af forsvarsårsager.
Tårnet ligger bag landsbyen, 202 meter over havets overflade, og kan nås til fods på en halv time ad en grusvej. Fra tårnet er der en smuk udsigt over Castellamares bugt.
