Forma parte del sistema de torres costeras de Sicilia y fue construida frente al mar con fines defensivos.
La torre se encuentra detrás del pueblo, a 202 metros sobre el nivel del mar , y se puede llegar a pie en media hora por un camino de tierra. Desde la torre se tiene una hermosa vista sobre el Golfo de Castellamare.
