Den ligger i bydelen Ville-Haute og er sammen med alléerne Porte-Neuve, Monterey og Marie-Thérèse en af de fire hovedakser, der blev åbnet efter nedrivningen af fæstningen Luxembourg i vest og nord for byen. Ligesom de andre 3 veje har den gjort det muligt at bygge og udvikle nye boligområder og muliggøre byens udvikling.
