Klarenbeek er en af de ældste godser i Arnhem. I begyndelsen af det 14. århundrede bestod Klarenbeek af skov og hede. Munkene fra klosteret "Monnikenhuizen" havde allerede gravet søer der. I begyndelsen af det 17. århundrede lod borgmesteren i Arnhem, som dengang ejede godset, plante meget skov. I 1886 købte kommunen Arnhem godset og indrettede det som park. .
