Klarenbeek es una de las propiedades más antiguas de Arnhem. A principios del siglo XIV, Klarenbeek consistía en bosques y campos de brezos. Los monjes del monasterio "Monnikenhuizen" ya habían excavado estanques en esa época. A principios del siglo XVII, el alcalde de Arnhem, que entonces era el propietario de la finca, hizo plantar muchos árboles. En 1886, el municipio de Arnhem compró la finca y la convirtió en un parque.
