Klarenbeek is one of the oldest estates in Arnhem. In the early 14th century, Klarenbeek consisted of woods and heathlands. The monks of the monastery "Monnikenhuizen" had already dug ponds at that time. In the early 17th century, the mayor of Arnhem, who owned the estate at that time, had a lot of forest planted there. In 1886, the municipality of Arnhem bought the estate and converted it into a park.
