Klarenbeek est l'un des plus anciens domaines d'Arnhem. Au début du 14ème siècle, Klarenbeek était composé de forêt et de landes. Les moines du monastère "Monnikenhuizen" avaient déjà creusé des étangs à cette époque. Au début du 17ème siècle, le maire d'Arnhem, qui possédait alors le domaine, y fit planter de nombreux arbres. En 1886, la municipalité d'Arnhem acheta le domaine et l'aménagea en parc.
