I Baarle-Nassau var der en meget bemærkelsesværdig mordsag, hvor liget blev fundet i en kiste præcist på grænsen. Grænsen går her gennem en villa, gennem et børneværelse. Præcist i det børneværelse blev kisten fundet med liget deri.
I denne sag måtte en landmåler bestemme, hvilket land kisten stod mest i, hvilket bestemte, hvilket land der skulle føre efterforskningen; det viste sig at være Nederlandene.
Den hviderussiske Katrina Kanyak blev fundet død den 18. februar 2008 i en affaldscontainer, gemt i en trækiste i legerummet i boligen på Hoogbraak i Baarle-Hertog.
