Ja, denne Edese kirke er meget gammel. Den nuværende form af kirken fik den i 1643, undtagen nordskibet, som først blev tilføjet i det 20. århundrede. Men i 1216 blev der allerede nævnt en kirke på dette sted. Den altid tilknyttede kirkegård finder vi ikke længere her. Den blev ryddet i 1970 for at give plads til den nye bygning af rådhuset. På grund af den gode akustik og det særlige orgel fra 1877 holdes der regelmæssigt orgelkoncerter i den Gamle Kirke.
