De hecho, esta iglesia de Ede es muy antigua. La forma actual de la iglesia la recibió en 1643, salvo la nave norte que se añadió solo en el siglo XX. Pero en 1216 ya se mencionaba una iglesia en este lugar. El cementerio, que siempre está presente en una iglesia, ya no lo encontramos aquí. Se desmanteló en 1970 para dar lugar a la nueva construcción del ayuntamiento.
Debido a la buena acústica y al peculiar órgano de 1877, se celebran regularmente conciertos de órgano en la Oude Kerk.
