Du passerer her det gamle tracé af jernbanen, der udgjorde forbindelsen mellem Amersfoort og Kesteren i Betuwe. Linjen blev åbnet i 1886 og var en del af den internationale jernbaneforbindelse mellem Amsterdam, Nijmegen og Köln. Mellem 1890 og 1920 blev linjen intensivt brugt til dette formål, hvorefter forbindelsen blev mindre vigtig. Anden Verdenskrig satte en endelig stopper for forbindelsen med Nijmegen, da Rhinbroen ved Rhenen blev beskadiget to gange. På de gamle søjler af broen blev der bygget en ny vejbro.
Det sidste godstog fra Amersfoort til Rhenen kørte her i 1972.
Tracéet er stadig let genkendeligt i landskabet, bl.a. ved skråningen og de forskellige stationsmesterhuse.
