Allerede i 1220 fandt ordinationer sted i O.L.-Vrouwe Munsterkirke. Det var Guds hus for cisterciensernonnernes kloster i Roermond, som blev grundlagt af Grev Gerard V. Ved hans død i 1229 blev han begravet i kirkerummet. Der er ikke meget tilbage af den oprindelige bygning, da den blev grundigt ombygget af arkitekten Cuypers i det 19. århundrede. Indenfor kan du også se altarretabel fra 1530 og en reliquiekasse med træskærerarbejde og malede vinger.
