De nedrivningsklare tidligere forsvarsejendomme Z18a og Z18b (Zuidkampweg 23 og 21) i ’t Vaneker viste sig at være et par- og fødesteder for dværgflagermus. Som kompensation er dette flagermushotel bygget, så tæt som muligt på deres tidligere opholdssted.
Hotellet er integreret i ’t Vaneker: designet har elegance, men er enkelt i opbygningen, så det harmonerer med det grønne miljø. Flagermushotellet er 6,75 meter højt og er bygget af træ og murværk.
