Pascal Verbeken beschreibt in seinem wunderschönen Buch 'Grand Central Belge', wie das belgische Parlament 1892 das Gesetz zur Einführung einer einheitlichen Zeit im ganzen Königreich verabschiedete. Diese Zeitbestimmung erfolgte im Königlichen Meteorologischen Institut von Belgien in Ukkel und wurde an den Bahnhofsvorsteher von Brüssel-Nord übermittelt. Dieser Bahnhofsvorsteher ließ alle Bahnhofuhren auf die gleiche Zeit einstellen. Aber wusstest du, dass die Gemeindeverwaltungen, die die offizielle Zeit nicht auf Türmen und anderen öffentlichen Uhren anwendeten, mit dem Gericht in Konflikt gerieten.
