Dieses Denkmal zu Ehren von General Georges Smith Patton (1885-1945) wurde 1957 an dem Ort eingeweiht, an dem er seine Soldaten motiviert haben soll, die sich während der Ardennenoffensive im Dezember 1944 nach Bastogne bewegten.
Er starb am 21. Dezember 1945 nach einem Autounfall in Heidelberg (Deutschland). Er ist auf dem Friedhof von Hamm (Großherzogtum Luxemburg) neben den Männern der 3. Armee begraben.
