This monument in honor of General George Smith Patton (1885-1945) was inaugurated in 1957 at the very spot where he is said to have motivated his soldiers heading towards Bastogne during the Ardennes counteroffensive in December 1944.
He died from a traffic accident in Heidelberg (Germany) on December 21, 1945. He is buried in the Hamm cemetery (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) among the men of the 3rd Army.
