Ce monument en l'honneur du Général Georges Smith Patton (1885-1945) a été inauguré en 1957 à l'endroit même où il aurait motivé ses soldats qui se dirigeaient vers Bastogne lors de la contre-offensive des Ardennes en Décembre 1944.
Il est décédé des suites d'un accident de la route à Heidelberg (Allemagne) le 21 Décembre 1945. Il est enterré au cimetière de Hamm (Grand Duché de Luxembourg) parmis les hommes de la 3ème Armée.
