Der Boelarewald ist ein Hang in einem Natura 2000-Schutzgebiet, das auf europäischer Ebene anerkannt ist. Unter dem Hoge Buizemont befinden sich vier Quellen, die drei Quellbäche speisen, die entlang des Waldes zur Gaverbeek und zur Dender fließen. Der mittlere Weg durch den Wald wird oft von Radfahrern genutzt. Der Weg ist stark von den Baumwurzeln beeinträchtigt, und über eine Distanz von 600 Metern steigt der Anstieg im Durchschnitt um 9%.
