Die Semois zieht sich durch das luxemburgische Schiefergebiet mit zahlreichen, manchmal sehr engen Kurven. Die berühmteste Schleife ist wohl die bei Botassart, einem Weiler von Ucimont und somit von Bouillon. Die enge "Halbinsel" innerhalb dieser Kurve wird Graf von dem Riesen genannt. Die Hänge erinnern an die Wände eines Sarkophag. Früher hat man oben auf dem mit Laubbäumen bewaldeten Hügel Nadelbäume in Kreuzform gepflanzt; das war im Winter gut zu erkennen. Aber das kann man jetzt nicht mehr erkennen. Man kann es jedoch noch auf Satellitenbildern und Luftaufnahmen sehen.
