La Semois serpente à travers le schiste luxembourgeois avec de nombreux virages, parfois très étroits. Le méandre le plus célèbre est peut-être celui de Botassart, un hameau d'Ucimont et donc de Bouillon. La "presqu'île" étroite à l'intérieur de ce méandre est appelée le Graf van de Reus. Les pentes évoquent les parois d'un sarcophage. Autrefois, on avait planté des conifères en forme de croix sur la colline boisée de feuillus ; cela était bien visible en hiver. Mais on ne peut plus le reconnaître maintenant. On peut encore le voir sur des images satellite et des photos aériennes.
