Zandpoort, Herentals
Das Zandpoort in Herentals wurde im 14. Jahrhundert aus Gobertangestein errichtet. Es ist ein Überbleibsel der alten Stadtmauer. Ikonografische Quellen zeigen dieses Tor als ein Gebäude mit abgerundeter Fassade zur Feldseite. Im 18. Jahrhundert wurde das Tor jedoch grundlegend umgebaut und erhielt eine gerade Fassade. Ein Teil des Tors verschwand damals unter der Erde. Dennoch blieb hinter der neuen Fassade der Ansatz der abgerundeten Fassade sichtbar. Das Tor wurde 1936 als Denkmal geschützt.
