Der robuste Turm mit der Spitze ist von weitem zu sehen. Das erste Gotteshaus stammt aus dem Jahr 1225. Als im 14. Jahrhundert die Bevölkerung schnell zunimmt, wird die heutige Hallenkirche erbaut. Im 18. Jahrhundert kann das verarmte Damme die Reparaturen an der baufälligen Unserer Lieben Frau Kirche nicht mehr bezahlen. Man zerstörte einen Teil des Schiffs, das Querschiff und den Turmhelm (1725-1727). Die Bögenarkade des Hauptschiffes blieb als Stütze für den Turm erhalten.
Von dem 43 m hohen Turm hat man ein einzigartiges Panorama. Die Kirche und der Turm sind beide zu besichtigen.
