l'Eau Noire
Die Eau Noire ist ein Quellfluss der Viroin, der in Rocroi (Frankreich) auf einer Höhe von 350 Metern entspringt. Kurz nach der Quelle bildet sie über etwa fünf Kilometer die Grenze zu Frankreich, bevor sie nach Norden abbiegt.
Kurz vor Couvin, der wichtigsten Stadt am Fluss, verläuft ein Teil des Flusses unterirdisch durch die Grottes de Neptune, auch "Grottes de l'Adugeoir" genannt. Der unterirdische Abschnitt fließt bei Nismes wieder mit dem Hauptstrom zusammen.
Bei der "Roche à Lomme" vereinigt sich die Eau Noire auf 150 Metern Höhe mit der Eau Blanche, um die Viroin zu bilden. Die Eau Noire - Schwarzes Wasser – kommt direkt aus den Wäldern, wodurch das Wasser klarer ist als das der Eau Blanche, sodass man darin tiefer, bis fast auf den Grund, schauen kann, was ein dunkleres Bild ergibt.
